For a long time, the slugs were just a viral accident. People wanted them, so I kept printing them. It felt really silly everytime someone would ask, "what do you do for work?" and having to reply, "uhm...I make slugs!"

The inevitable question that would follow: "why slugs?"

For awhile, I didn't really have a great answer. Don't get me wrong--I love slugs. I have been obsessed with bugs and gastropods since I could talk. But I didn't understand why everyone else loved them and whether or not this slug adventure was bringing any purpose into the world, or just allowing me to make a living by playing with toys and 3D printers for awhile.

As time went on, I began hearing stories from my customers about what the slugs meant to them. The slugs were judgement-free buddies who accompanied their humans to therpy each week. They were companions to teens at a time when they really needed a friend. They were sources of joy and outlets for anxiety during COVID. The slugs take the sensory stimulation of a fidget spinner and combine it with the magical, imaginative bond we form with our toy stuffed animals as kids.

Hearing your stories has given me so much more purpose behind what used to be just a silly little slug toy. I have so many exciting and meaningful plans for Fidget Friendz, and I can't wait to continue this journey with you all!
